  Where the heat goes

  The back panel is air mesh and the sides are mesh as well, so the vest is open where a loaded pack would be solid. On a still climb in July the small of your back will still be wet, but no slab of foam is held against it and the fabric dries once you are moving again.

  Two buckles, not one

  Both sternum buckles slide up and down the front webbing, so you set the height as well as the tension, and the shoulder webbing takes up whatever is left. The front bungee cord pulls a part-filled vest back in.
