  What the webbing actually does

  MOLLE is rows of stitched-down tape at a fixed spacing. A pouch strap weaves through the rows on the bag, then through the pouch, and folds back on itself, which is why kit added this way stays put instead of swinging. Any pouch of a standard size goes on, wherever you want it.

  What you hang on it, and where

  A pouch on the outside sits further from your spine than the same weight carried inside, and the further out it goes, the harder it pulls your shoulders back. Keep dense items in the 45 L, save the webbing for light bulk, and load high and close to your back. Do not force a zip shut over a full compartment.
