Start with the empty weight

Forty litres is the most common size on the shelf, so the figure that separates one bag from another is what it weighs before you put anything in. This one is 1.2 kg. Over a long day that is roughly a litre of water you get to carry instead of fabric. The 1000D nylon accounts for a good part of it, and it is the layer that takes the scuffing when the bag goes down on gravel.

What the harness has, and has not

No hip belt and no chest strap are listed, so the load arrives entirely on your shoulders. Pack dense items high and against your back, spread the light bulk around them, and leave a zip alone the moment it needs a shove. The lining is water-repellent rather than sealed, so a liner bag still earns its place for anything that has to stay dry.
