  Parachute nylon hammock with rain fly: a full night off the ground

  The fly overhead takes the rain and whatever drops out of the canopy, so you stay dry instead of rigging a tarp at 2am. At 290 x 140 cm there is enough width to lie diagonally, which is what flattens out the lie and kills the ridge down your back that catches people out on narrow hammocks. Everything you need to hang it is in the bag: strap, guy line, suspension loops and stake. The 300 kg rating leaves plenty of headroom for a big bloke plus boots and bergen.

  Midge season sorted

  The mesh is part of the hammock rather than draped over the top, so there is nothing to clip on in the dark and nothing sagging onto your face at 3am. Scottish midge season or a warm night in the garden, the net stays between you and anything that bites. Pitch the ends slightly high, sit in the middle and you are in bed.
