  Materials, height and what a low cut costs

  Nylon panels carry the flex and keep the mass down while leather takes the scuffing, a split that works better than either material alone. The cotton lining sits closer to a trainer than a sealed membrane, comfortable across seasons but frank about limits: a low shaft gives up the support of a tall one.
