Ranger-style service boots for field and site

Flexibility is what carries a long day. Cadets on weekend exercise, security agents standing a ten to twelve hour shift, airsoft players crossing broken ground and outdoor tradespeople all move constantly, and a shell that bends with the foot beats one that has to be fought. The pair works as outdoor footwear on a hike and as work footwear on site the next morning.

    Construction, lining and everyday wear

Artificial leather forms the body of the upper, backed by Oxford fabric panels and a mesh lining that keeps the interior breathable rather than clammy. It is a synthetic hide, not full-grain, so expect easy cleaning and light weight rather than a resoleable build. The treaded outsole is the part doing the work on wet, uneven ground.

After a few days of use, I found them to be an excellent compromise between protection and lightness, and comfortable, although I'd have to go up a size, which is what I did. Reassuringly durable over time, perhaps a little less so than the historic leather rangers worn by the French army, yet to be seen.
