  Summer treks, a night under canvas, airsoft days when the sun holds and long shifts crossing dusty ground: heavy leather cooks the foot in that heat, so the upper is cut with mesh instead. The extended shaft steadies each step on scree, gravel and rutted tracks where a low shoe rolls the ankle.

  Ventilation, height and the trade it involves
