Winter-Lined Boots for Cold Weather Work

January is the test. A security officer posted at a gate for twelve hours loses heat through the feet first, and so does a volunteer responder standing about at an incident. Cadets on winter exercise and outdoor trades face the same problem from the opposite direction: constant movement, then a long cold stop. The drawstring top earns its place the moment snow starts drifting.

    Membrane, Materials and Snow Protection

Two things separate the pair from ordinary padded footwear. The membrane is genuinely waterproof and breathable, so sweat is not trapped against the sock and turned clammy by the cold. The upper mixes fabric with hide, which balances weight against abrasion resistance. Insulation that thick does run warm, so a mild autumn day is not really what the boots were made for.
