  Warm off cold ground in a small pack

  At 183 by 57 cm and 1.1 kg, the Small Self Inflating Mattress rolls down to 12 by 57 cm, so it slots into a daypack without taking over your kit. The 2.5 cm of high-resilience foam lifts your hips and shoulders off hard ground and slows the cold that seeps up from below. Open the valve and the foam draws in most of its air on its own; add a few breaths if you want it firmer. There is a pillow section that you top up by mouth, so you carry one less item.

  Built to handle damp and rough pitches

  The shell is a 5-layer 190T PVC-coated polyester pongee. The water-resistant coating helps it shrug off ground damp and the odd snag, though it is not a sealed groundsheet, so keep a dry base under it in a downpour. Side attachments let you clip several mats together for more sleeping space. It comes in Black, Green and Brown. Store it unrolled with the valve open to protect the foam between trips.
