  Warmth and comfort off the ground

  The 3cm of high-density PU foam is the point here: where 2cm budget mats still let cold seep through, this thickness insulates you from the ground properly. The 192 x 66cm surface gives one person room to sleep, and at 1.2kg it sits in the lighter range for a foam mat, so it carries easily for hiking and camping. The five-layer build, polyester Chun Yafang around adhesive PVC, foam and more adhesive PVC, gives a double coating that blocks moisture from both faces rather than letting damp seep up underneath.

  How it inflates

  Open the valve and the foam expands and draws in its own air, so there is no five-minute blowing session, you just wait. If you want it firmer, a few breaths finish the job, which is normal for a self-inflating mat. Press-stud fasteners on the side let you join several mats together, and it comes in Beige, Blue or Green.
