  Open the valve and the high-density foam draws in most of its air on its own while you unpack the rest of your gear. Top it up with a few breaths if you like it firmer. The built-in pillow has its own independent valve and inflates by mouth, so you set head and body support separately. To be straight about it, self-inflating does not mean it reaches full pressure untouched, a few puffs finish the job to the firmness you want.

  The 192 x 66 x 5 cm surface gives one person room to stretch out, and 5 cm of foam keeps hips and shoulders off cold, stony ground. Packed down to 65 x 15 x 15 cm at 1.5 kg, it straps to a rucksack without dominating it. The breathable polyester pongee carries a PVC coating that resists ground damp, though it is a sleeping surface rather than a groundsheet, so a dry footprint helps on wet nights.
