  Light, roomy and bug-proof

  At 900g this hammock packs down small enough for long-distance trekking, then opens out to a 260 x 130cm bed with room for taller sleepers. The quick-opening mosquito net gives you full insect protection without a fight in the dark, and the 210T nylon uses a high-density weave that resists tears through repeated setups. Hung between two trees it takes you off the wet, insect-ridden ground, and the 300kg limit leaves plenty of headroom for you and your kit.

  About the cold underneath

  Every hammock shares one honest drawback: it is colder underneath than the ground, because your body squashes the insulation flat and heat escapes below. A sleeping mat inside the hammock or an underquilt slung beneath it fixes this, and we would rather tell you now than have you find out at 3am. The first pitch takes a little practice with the net and straps, so run through it once at home and the rest of your nights go up in a couple of minutes.
