Built to take the weight

The stainless steel carabiners and straps carry up to 450 kg each, so the hardware is not the thing you worry about when you climb in with full kit. The bed runs 115 x 56 inches, roughly 292 x 142 cm, which gives one person a lot of room to lie diagonal or fits two at a squeeze. Zips run down both sides, so you get in and out either way instead of fighting one opening in the dark, and the net stays between you and the midges the whole time.

Colder underneath than you expect

Strong straps do not keep you warm, and this is where new hangers get caught out. Your body presses any padding flat beneath you, so a hammock loses heat downward faster than the ground does. Put a sleeping mat inside or an underquilt below and that cold disappears. The taffeta breathes to cut condensation, so with insulation underneath you wake up dry rather than damp.
