  Ten centimetres between you and the ground

  Ten centimetres of inflated depth keeps hips and shoulders clear of stones and cold soil, which matters if you sleep on your side. The 18 air columns spread your weight rather than letting it sink to one point, and the 150 kg load rating covers larger builds. At 700 g it stays a realistic carry.

  How it inflates

  The pump is built into the mattress and worked with your foot, so 30 to 60 seconds of pressing replaces a lungful of breath. No separate pump is needed. Thick air mattresses are the most comfortable option and the easiest to puncture, so clear the pitch of stones, or lay a thin foam mat underneath on rough ground.
