  Ten centimetres between you and the ground

  Ten centimetres of inflated depth is enough to keep hips and shoulders clear of roots and stones, and the surface measures 190 by 70 cm, so a broad sleeper is not hanging over the edge. The 40D ripstop nylon carries a TPU coating that resists ground damp.

  How this one inflates

  The pump is part of the mattress. You press it by hand or stand on it, and it is firm in about two minutes, with one valve for filling and a second for emptying at the end of the trip. Depth like this is comfortable and easy to puncture, so clear the pitch and use a thin mat beneath it on stony ground.
