  Hammock and rain fly in one kit

  This is a complete hang: the hammock takes the weight and the integrated rain fly pitches over the top to turn it into weatherproof sleeping quarters. The 210T nylon holds a rated 300kg and the whole kit weighs just 730g, so it earns its place in a light pack. Everything you need to string it up comes in the box, the straps, carabiners and accessories, in a choice of Forest Green Camouflage or plain Green. It hangs between two trees and keeps you off the cold, wet ground below.

  Warm nights take one extra piece

  The rain fly handles the weather from above, but the cold comes from below. Every hammock does this: your body flattens the insulation under you, so on a chilly night your back feels the air moving beneath. A sleeping mat inside or an underquilt below the hammock fixes it completely, and it is worth sorting before your first trip rather than at three in the morning. There is no bug net in this kit, so bring a head net if you are out when the midges are up. Practise the pitch once at home and it goes fast after that.
