  Ventilated, bug-proof and roomy

  The 70/30 nylon and mesh blend uses a hexagonal weave that lets air move through, which keeps condensation down on humid nights. The integrated mosquito net covers you completely so insects stay out while you sleep, and at 290 by 140cm there is space to lie across the diagonal instead of curling up. It carries a rated 200kg, packs down to 1.5kg with two alloy carabiners, two suspension ropes and a storage bag, and comes in a Camouflage, Pink or Blue finish. The camo look is styling, not issued army kit.

  Two things worth knowing first

  There is no rain tarp in this set, so string a separate tarp over the top if rain is on the cards. And like every hammock, it feels colder underneath than a tent, because your weight presses the insulation flat below you. Drop a sleeping mat inside or hang an underquilt beneath and you stay warm through the night. Set it up once in the garden so the ropes and net sit right, and after that it takes only a few minutes to hang between two trees.
