  Double bag anything electronic

  A laptop compartment is padding, not weather protection. No bag of this type should be trusted on its own with a machine or a phone in sustained rain, and nor should a roll-top. Slide the laptop into a sealed plastic sleeve before it goes in, and keep the phone in its own case.

  Zips, seams and the weather
