  Room for two, ready to hang

  The 270 x 140 cm body gives two of you a proper sleeping area, or one person a wide bed to lie diagonal and flatten out your back. The 70D nylon takes 200 kg, so it carries the pair of you plus kit without straining. Everything you need to hang it comes in the box, so the aluminium pegs, carabiners and suspension ropes mean you are not hunting for missing hardware at the trees. The integrated net zips the two of you in against midges and mosquitoes on summer nights.

  Two people, still cold underneath

  Sharing a hammock does not fix the cold. Your weight presses any padding flat beneath you, so heat leaves downward and a hammock runs colder than the ground. Each of you wants a mat inside or an underquilt below. At 1.3 kg packed to 36 x 12 x 10 cm it stows small, so there is room to carry the insulation that turns a cold hang into a warm night.
