  Two sizes in one pack

  The main compartment carries 35 litres closed and opens to 40 once you add a fleece and a second day of food. That extra volume is not free. The higher you pack, the more the load pulls back off your shoulders, so keep the dense items low and against the back panel once the collar is extended.

  Rain, and the hole in the back

  The coating sheds a shower, and the cover goes over the shell for anything heavier. The hydration outlet stays an opening whatever the weather does, so run a liner or a dry bag around your spare layers. If you are buying for a dated expedition, order with the delivery window above in mind.
