  What 480 grams buys you

  Most 30 litre packs never publish an empty weight. This one is 480 g, roughly a full drinks bottle you are not carrying. The harness is curved shoulder straps and a chest strap; there is no padded hip belt in the specification, so your shoulders take all of it. Put the dense items at the top, tight to the back panel, and leave the outer pockets for light bulk.

  Rain, and what the cover misses
