  780 grams for 25 litres, and why

  Heavier than an unlined pack of the same volume, and the lining and the stowed cover are where those grams went. You trade a couple of hundred grams for an outer that survives a scrape and a cover you cannot leave behind. If shaving weight matters more than either, a lighter pack in the range suits you better.

  How it carries

  Curved shoulder straps follow the line of your shoulders instead of running straight down, and an adjustable chest strap stops them sliding outwards. No padded waist belt, so 25 litres of day kit is the ceiling. The nylon resists water rather than sealing at the seams, which is what the cover is for. Anything critical still goes inside a dry bag.
