Pick your fill for the trip

The maker positions this for freezing nights but does not publish a comfort figure, so treat the fill weight as your main lever: lighter builds for three-season use, heavier builds when the temperature really drops. If you are unsure, size up rather than down, sleep on a proper insulated mat and keep a liner handy for the last few degrees. A rating you cannot see is a reason to give yourself margin, not to gamble on a cold night.

Light down, kept dry

Goose down is what keeps the base build near 1kg while still packing small, and the mummy cut trims the dead air your body has to heat. The catch with any down fill is moisture: it loses loft and warmth when wet. The 20D shell resists light damp and morning dew, but it is not a dry bag, so keep the down dry, air it after damp nights and store it loose to protect the loft.
