  What the rain cover covers

  A cover over the outside keeps most of a shower off the fabric. It does not seal the zips and it does nothing for the panel against your back, which is where run-off and sweat collect. Treat the pack as water-resistant, keep the sleeping bag inside a dry bag of its own, and stop watching the sky.
